MMAWarehouse.com

MMAWarehouse.com was featured on mmajunkie.com. Its is always great to see strong supporters of MMA getting good press. We know for a fact Mika and Sarah give back to the sport so much and have helped a lot of great fighters out there be able to train full time and provide their families with a good life. Congrats to them!

Here is some of the interview:

As a way to support the companies who support us, we’re happy to feature MMAWarehouse.com in our latest Advertiser Spotlight.

Learn more about one of MMA’s most prominent online retailers. CEO Mika Casey tells us about the launch of MMAWarehouse.com, how the company goes about sponsoring fighters, issues facing the industry, and how exactly an MMA retailer makes it all work.

Additionally, as a small token of appreciation to the MMAjunkie.com community, MMAWarehouse.com is offering a special discount for all readers.

Read on to learn more.

MMAJUNKIE.COM: Can you tell us how the whole idea for the company came about and when it launched?

MIKA CASEY, MMAWAREHOUSE.COM
: As a teenager back in the mid ’90s, I rented a lot of the early UFCs.  I was fascinated by the whole thing, but with all the regulation issues they ran into and some events never making it to video, I ended up losing track of it for a while.

Then, shortly after Zuffa took over in 2001, one of my friends (who incidentally now works for them) decided out of the blue to order one of the pay-per-views, and we were instantly hooked on the new product.  I started following the sport much more closely via the Internet and went to my first local event, Monte Cox’s Extreme Challenge.  (A small sidenote:  Never again will one see guys like Pat Miletich, the Hughes brothers, Robbie Lawler, Tim Sylvia, etc. walking around a venue of a few hundred as complete unknowns.  I believe Jeremy Horn both reffed and fought if I remember correctly.  Those were the days!)

Eventually in 2004 I got to see my first live UFC (47) where Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell headlined.  The electricity and excitement I witnessed there got me so fired up that the first thing I did when I got home was go online to order some TapouT shirts and some gear so I could start training.  I was very disappointed to find that no online retailer carried a good mix of what I was looking for.  I had always wanted to start my own business if the right opportunity came along, and here was a wide open market at the ground floor.  I wrote up a business plan, got a loan, and turned our second bedroom into the first “warehouse.”  The rest, as they say, is history!

This is a short bio of me:

Kickboxing is an obsession for me. There should be a warning when you first sign up ‘Kickboxing is addictive. ‘ Eat. Sleep. Kickboxing. More of a way of life than a sport I think.

I love Muay Thai because it is the sport of all sports. You walk in with the world on your shoulders and when you put your gloves on nothing else matters. All the anger you have stored up is released, you can scream and shout and even swear your head off and no one even flinches. Even being in a room full of kickboxers you feel ‘at home’ and as if you ‘belong’ even if you don’t know the person next to yous name, you know you share a passion so deep you feel as if you share a secret.
When you hit the pads with everything you have in you and feel invincible.

Martial arts has always been an interest, and at the age of 14 I started Karate which I enjoyed and was great for fitness, flexibility and discipline, but I was too impatient and wanted to hit the bags! Then one day I after Basketball, I heard a lot of noise, so I stuck my head in one of the stadium doors and discovered a whole new world. Kickboxing.
I started then and there. Although I was only 16 had to lie and say I was 18 because that’s how old you had to be to join :)

My ultimate goal is to set up my own Kickboxing school. Where I would promote and push the fact that kickboxing is not just about Physical Health but Mental Health as well. Depression is a silent epidemic yet ‘will be the second leading cause of death by 2020. ‘
I have loss one too many friends to drug related depression. There is a disgusting amount of people out there who think that exercise has to be a chore and is only about loosing weight. Kickboxing is a way of life and a passion. Since the day I started kickboxing I feel as if I had discovered a secret and I want to share it with the world.

Train Hard. Fight Easy.

Back from Vegas!

Fight Chix was out in Vegas this past weekend for the IFL. We also finally got to meet and work with two of the coolest, sexy girls in MMA. Miss Ra Ra and Drea. For those of you who don’t know who these queens of the MMA scene are, let me break it down for you. Miss Ra Ra is the Queen of the Underground. She rolls with all the big names in the sport and she hosts her own show on the stream.tv on Monday Nights. She is also a major player in the NAMME that is set to go down on July 10-13. Drea is a singer and dancer out of LA that works with Eddie Bravo—you know creater of the rubber guard! Drea is also an experienced model. We had talked with both of them for a while and we set up a photoshoot with Michael M. Perez….who is the BOMB! Tracey Lee—who is at EVERY MMA event world wide shooting for her site combatlifestlye.com was also on hand hanging out with us and shooting some pics when we all met up at the OTM signing.

The IFL had some sick fights and Elisabeth, Drea and Ra Ra where sitting close to the action. Elisabeth had an interview with Joe and Ted on Rear Naked Choke Radio. So check out that interview!

Fight Chix also released the new AFTER HOURS collection. The After Hours collection is higher end designs and styles for when you’re done at the gym and want to hit the club or the after party…but still maintain your FIGHT CHIX status! We also added new colors to the track jackets—check on Drea and Miss Ra Ra sporting the new gear!
